Wow! That's was amazing. I watched YouTube over and over, just can't get enough. Happily Anonymous said it correctly. It would be truly amazing if I can watch it face to face.

    Thanks for sharing, KiwiPulse.

Stunning photos! However, Falkirk is not the world's largest boat lift. I'm not sure which one is, but the Strepy-Thieu boat lift in Belgium is three times the height and can carry much bigger boats! Good photos of it here: http://www.binnenvaartinbeeld.com/strepy_thieu.htm
    (It doesn't rotate, though!)

This is amazing. What a engineering feat. The photos are great. They gave me a great idea of what this must be like to really see. Thanks it'll be awhile before I get to Scotland..

The wheel was design by RMJM who also designed the new Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh, this hasn't been as popular with the public, although I think its great.

Although the Falkirk Wheel may not be the worlds largest boat lift I do believe it is however the worlds largest rotating boat lift. The Strepy-Thieu boat lift in Belgium does not rotate. It is more of a conveyor chain lift. Both of these boat lifts are equally impressive and now that I think about it they remind me an awful lot of amusement park rides I have seen. Makes me wonder if that is where the idea originated from.
    Great post!

Definitely impressive! I think humans really can bring about outstanding achievements, when they're not to busy fighting with each other. I wonder what would happen if everyone realized that! ;)
